Get that thing going and we can go wheeling
I built a Samurai with Toyota axles sitting on 35" tires. Spool in the front, locker in the rear. Climbs real well. I have gathered parts to build a power steering system. I have to cut the frame to do it so once I start there is no going back. Currently it is manual steering and I hate life when the hubs are locked in.
Trike update:
I bought a used front rim and tire from a Harley shop on Eastside road near South Bonneyview. They were great to deal with and made a customer for life. I had spent most of the morning driving around to shop after shop and even hit up cycle salvage. No one could understand that I just needed a front wheel and it did not matter from what.
It was like pulling teeth at Cycle Salvage and went something like this;
"I am looking for a 21" front wheel, what do you have?
"What kind of bike is it"
"It is a trike but anything will work. Can I take a look at what you have?"
"Is it disk or drum brakes?"
"No brakes"
"We wouldn't have any thing like that"
"I can pull the disk off and if it was a smaller drum brake that might look cool."
"What front end is on it"
"Springer maybe Harley or after market, Can I look around at what wheels you have? Maybe I will see some thing I like."
"It is all sorted into rooms, but if you see a bike and like the front end we can buy one and get you the wheel."
"So I can't look around?"
"No but here is our card."
At the Harley shop;
"I need a 21" front wheel for a project what do you have?"
"Follow me." Grabs a rim and tire puts it on the tire balancer and spins it.
"Spins true, What do you want for it?"
"$75"
"Ok let me go home and get some measurements, I will return."
"Take it with you, come back and pay me if it works."
"Do you want my name?"
"Nope."
That was sure simple.
I will have to make new spacers but it will work fine.
Ordered some parts online and am hoping to do a ride down the street, then into the shop to start cutting.
It should be fun because there is no master cylinder.
