Day 10 into a 12 day straight stretch... 12 hour days. Now I hear I might have to work this weekend too!
At least I got to see an awesome location today. Down at the old DeSabla power house area.
Welcome to environmentally friendly California where asbestos is our state rock. Piece of serpentine and I'm thinking the white specs on this piece is asbestos...
Climbing opportunities! Foreground and way further in the background is a wall..... except this location is gated. Darn.

The last pic was very interesting. The way the rock was layered was just amazing.

I had to look up De Sabla on a map, it sounded familiar but I couldn't place it. I now see why. Years ago a friend and I used to go up to the High Lakes 4 wheeling, or what we thought was 4 wheeling 20 something years ago. His family had a place in Paradise that we used as our "base camp" and would do day trips from there. Many, many snow runs and summer trips. I wasn't into climbing then but I remember we were fishing someplace on a river, and there was a roof with a horizontal crack at the back. In the crack there were what I know today to be webbing on pitons. I was amazed and tried to visualize the "path" that the people climbed. It looked impossible. That was my first exposure and it haunts me to this day. I want to find it and climb it but have no idea where it is.
